Raleigh International Mountain Marathon 2002 Raleigh International Mountain Marathon (RIMM) 2002 is a 2-day-1-night mountaineering competition with a course ranging from 20 - 45 km depending on different categories. The race is a test of participants' mountaineering skills and is a vigorous challenge to their endurance, persistence and self-confidence. Team spirits are also emphasized. Participants, in teams of 2 - 4, are required to carry specified team and personal kit, to decide their own route to reach check points, and to camp in a specified campsite. This event serves to raise fund for Raleigh International Hong Kong to promote its worldwide & local youth development projects. Yushi Murimoto's report: (translation from Japanese) "Miss KIN was my partner for this race. It was the first time for me to actually meet with her. She can speak Japanese fluently. I was quite surprised because everyone else was communicating in other foreign languages. It was a new feeling for me and really felt like I was far away from my home country Japan. One critical aspect of this race was that we couldn't know where we were going and where the race was going to finish. Quite good to train my mental strength. The only information we could know was the location of the next checkpoint. And... because I was not in sight of my goal, my anxiety was becoming stronger gradually. 8 mountains, the high was 700-800m and I finished the whole thing in 2 days. The trails are never flat and are climbing up or down all the time. At the end I suffered from backache because of too much strain. When I reached the top of the mountain, I could see the small towns of china below my eyes. It was a wonderful time for me because in Japan we cannot look foreign country like this. The just one thing we should do in 2days is "climbing up and down".It must make me tougher than before." YUSHI
